20.07.18 : Son En Klab – Hechicero

Good day dear blog followers, readers, listeners y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana de alta calidad !

Today the blog features a romantic Timba composition by a relatively newly formed group called Son En Klab.
This septet consists of six female musicians and one male musician, playing the bass, piano, congas, timbales, guiro & maracas, trombone, trumpet, and of course, vocals.
The group was formed a few years ago in La Habana, and has since performed all over Cuba, with well known standards as well as original compositions, such as the one we shall be enjoying today, called “Hechicero”.

So, here it is…
And always remember… ¡sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

13.07.18 : Jeimy Castillo – Aunque Me Critiquen

Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!

Something that I like doing for this blog is searching the web for new and (yet) unknown talents from Cuba and elsewhere, making interesting Cuban music.

So, today I wish to share a nice Timba composition, released earlier this year, by the Cali based group of Jeimy Castillo.

Jeimy is the band’s lead vocal, and also composes the lyrics; Jeffry Obando, the bassist, is also the arranger and producer, and Guiro player Pablo Cortes also mixes and records the studio compositions.
Other members include Camilo Rengifo on Timbal, Drum kit and Bata Drums, John Paul Avila on Congas, Victor Gonzales playing the Piano, Cristian Munoz and Andy Rodriguez on trumpets, Richard Estela and Camilo Maestre playing trombones, Frank Alexis Renteria on the tenor saxophone and last but not least, back vocals \ chorus by Jhojan Olave, Heryb Bonilla and Jordan Vasquez.

With a great groove, rhythm, Bata drum percussion, and the mighty voice of Jeimy, among other things, I think that this band is on the correct path to Timba success.
So, here is the composition for today…

Y como siempre… ¡seguimos disfrutando la musica Cubana!

06.07.18 : Adalberto Alvarez y su Son – Los Buenos y Los Malos

Good day dear blog readers, listeners and followers.

Today we shall enjoy a good Son Montuno composition from the latest album of one of my favorite artists, Adalberto Alvarez, called “De Cuba pa’l Mundo Entero”, which came out a few months ago, in February 2018.

It is called “Los Buenos y Los Malos”, and has quite a classical sound to it, with good flow and rhythm.

¡Disfrutala!

29.06.18 : Sierra Maestra – Echale Salsita

Good day dear readers, blog followers and listeners!

After the amazing 9th Guaguanco Festival, the blog is back with wonderful Cuban music 🙂

I’m not one to take much interest in contests and competitions of any sort, but those at the festival can really be interesting at times, and are nice to watch, occasionally.

So, the song presented today was the final’s song for Sunday’s Son Competition, and rightfully so;
Long before “salsa” was first use as an advertisement term for any and every thing “Latino”, the ingenious Ignacio Pineiro composed the now classic Echale Salsita, back in 1933…

So, here is our composition for today – an interpretation of the classic by the modern ensemble Sierra Maestra, which plays traditional and contemporary Cuban muisc, together with the talented Vocalist Celeste Mendoza.

¡La seguimos disfrutando!

14.06.18 : Mixael Cabrera y su TimBarcelona – Pa’ Mi Barrio

Good day dear blog readers, followers and listeners!

So, what has elements of Son, Danzon, Cha Cha Cha, quotes several Cuban classics, and will probably be performed live next week at the 9th Guaguanco Festival ?

Today’s presented composition by Mixael Cabrera y su TimBarcelona !

As you probably know, the group has recently released a new album, “Origen”.
But this wonderful composition comes from their previous album, “Llego lo Que te Gusta”, and is more on the traditional side, as compared to the hardcore Timba which characterizes most of the group’s compositions.

As mentioned above, the band will be performing at the 9th Guaguanco Festival at Lloret de Mar, Spain, next week, and yours truly will be there to enjoy it (and much more!).

So, here is our song for today.
¡Disruten!

08.06.18 : Maykel Blanco – Esperanza

Good day dear listeners, readers, blog followers y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!

Today we shall enjoy a wonderful Timba composition from an album which this year turns 12 – Me Olvide Quien Era, released with Maykel’s previous band, La Suprema Lay.

This was his last album before forming La Salsa Mayor, and nowadays is fully available for you to enjoy.

For today’s song, it is a little known one, yet one I like and enjoy a lot.

¡Disfruten!

01.06.18 : Pupy y Los Que Son Son – Este Ano

Good day dear blog readers, followers and listeners!

Last week I covered a great song from a wonderful new album, released only a couple of weeks ago, “De Vuelta al Barrio”, by El Nino y la Verdad.

Today I’m glad to present yet another amazing new album, in which all but 1 of the composition are great both for listening and playing at your favorite dance venue, party, event etc. ;
Today’s song is from the new album by Pupy y Los Que Son Son, called “Pasandola Bien“, just as the title track (which, in my modest opinion, is the best Timba track released so far since mid 2017…) .

The marvelous Timba for us to enjoy today is called “Este Ano”, and if “Pasandola Bien” is #1, this one is #2, not being too far behind…

So, here it is.
¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

Emilito Frias, fondly known as “el nino”, and his band (El Nino y La Verdad) have just released a wonderful new album called “De Vuelta al Barrio”, full of some great Timba tracks in the band’s usual style, and even one montuno-cha composition.

So, here is one of my favorites from the album, called “La Princesa de Cayo Hueso”.

¡Disfruta la Musica Cubana!
