27.07.18 : Timbason – Que Le Den Candela

Good day dear blog followers, readers and listeners.

As some of you might know, I’m very much for discipline, planning and being overall well organized.
So, I usually plan blog posts weeks (or even a couple of months) ahead.
Obviously, I had a nice song planned for today’s post… but then I got a notification about a new video on one of the channels I follow.

Do you like Los Van Van? Son Cubano? both?
If so, today’s post, by Timbason (an American group playing Cuban music which I presented here over 3 years ago) is exactly for you!

Today we shall be enjoying a nice live performance of the wonderful classic of modern Cuban music, Que Le Den Candela.

So, here it is…
And remember… ¡sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

20.07.18 : Son En Klab – Hechicero

Good day dear blog followers, readers, listeners y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana de alta calidad !

Today the blog features a romantic Timba composition by a relatively newly formed group called Son En Klab.
This septet consists of six female musicians and one male musician, playing the bass, piano, congas, timbales, guiro & maracas, trombone, trumpet, and of course, vocals.
The group was formed a few years ago in La Habana, and has since performed all over Cuba, with well known standards as well as original compositions, such as the one we shall be enjoying today, called “Hechicero”.

So, here it is…
And always remember… ¡sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

13.07.18 : Jeimy Castillo – Aunque Me Critiquen

Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!

Something that I like doing for this blog is searching the web for new and (yet) unknown talents from Cuba and elsewhere, making interesting Cuban music.

So, today I wish to share a nice Timba composition, released earlier this year, by the Cali based group of Jeimy Castillo.

Jeimy is the band’s lead vocal, and also composes the lyrics; Jeffry Obando, the bassist, is also the arranger and producer, and Guiro player Pablo Cortes also mixes and records the studio compositions.
Other members include Camilo Rengifo on Timbal, Drum kit and Bata Drums, John Paul Avila on Congas, Victor Gonzales playing the Piano, Cristian Munoz and Andy Rodriguez on trumpets, Richard Estela and Camilo Maestre playing trombones, Frank Alexis Renteria on the tenor saxophone and last but not least, back vocals \ chorus by Jhojan Olave, Heryb Bonilla and Jordan Vasquez.

With a great groove, rhythm, Bata drum percussion, and the mighty voice of Jeimy, among other things, I think that this band is on the correct path to Timba success.
So, here is the composition for today…

Y como siempre… ¡seguimos disfrutando la musica Cubana!

06.07.18 : Adalberto Alvarez y su Son – Los Buenos y Los Malos

Good day dear blog readers, listeners and followers.

Today we shall enjoy a good Son Montuno composition from the latest album of one of my favorite artists, Adalberto Alvarez, called “De Cuba pa’l Mundo Entero”, which came out a few months ago, in February 2018.

It is called “Los Buenos y Los Malos”, and has quite a classical sound to it, with good flow and rhythm.

¡Disfrutala!
