Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana, and happy Chinese new year to all 🙂
As some of you might know, I have been an amateur photographer for almost as long as I have been social dancing…
So for me this fine Timba composition by El Nino y la Verdad, from their latest album, strikes two notes at the same time, with style and content.
So, here it is, dance away 🙂
And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana, and happy new 2021!
Today’s performer is from Puerto Rico, but creates very nice music of various Cuban musical genres.
During the early 1990’s Freddy and his band released two albums, one in 1993 and the other in 1994, and performed with such well known artists as Tito Rodriguez and Cheo Feliciano, but have since then gone off radar…
But now, in 2020, the wonderful baritone returns with today’s composition named “facil”, combining Bolero and Son Montuno, performed by a thirteen member band.
So, here it…
And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Today we have a nice Timba composition, which recent events have twisted around a little, with a touch of irony…
Today’s composition is by the wonderful Klimax, and deals with nothing less than a “Chinese Cold” (!).
Hopefully you are fine, in good health and have at least some opportunity to dance, at a venue or at home.
So, without further ado, immerse yourselves in the crazy situation of our planet, and may you experience a real… Klimax 😉
And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Today I am glad to present a voice which is probably familiar to many, even if not by name…
Hector Valentin, known as “el Valiente”, was the lead singer of such primera line ensembles such as Orquesta Reve and Adalberto Alvarez y su Son during the 1980’s and 1990’s occasionally making the guest appearance in both CDs and concerts later on.
In 1992 Hector formed his own band (Hector Valentin y su Orquesta) releasing several CDs over the years, playing both traditional and contemporary genres of Cuban music including Son, Rumba, Bolero and Timba.
Recently (feb. 2020) a new, 11 track, disc was released, produced by Manolito Simonet, with guest participation by many of Hector’s former comrades form Adalberto’s band, Manolito’s band, Osain del Monte ensemble and others.
So, without further ado, here it is! And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Today we shall enjoy a fine Timba from the group Isla Caribe Habana, taking us back to the golden age…
The group was founded nearly 30 years ago, in septembre 1992, and its repertoire is mostly based on more traditional genres of Cuban music such as Suku Suku, Son Montuno, though as in today’s composition, they sometimes venture into the realm of Timba.
Isla Caribe Habana has performed at the best venues of Cuba such as Salon Rosado, Tropicana, Palacio de la Salsa, Casas de la Musica Habana & Miramar, Cabaret Copa Rum del Riviera and many more.
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Today we shall go back to the year 1991, and enjoy a fine “changui” composition, Orquesta Reve style…
And BTW, the trend of using more explicit “Afro” (Yoruba, Lukumi…) elements in Timba that we see a lot in recent years started back then, during the mid-late 1980’s and early 1990’s, as we can clearly hear today.
So, without further ado, here it is!
And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Today we shall familiarize ourselves and enjoy a little known Timba gem, all the way back from “la epoca del oro”, Cuban Timba of the 1990’s.
Grupo Connexion Salsera performed and recorded in Cuba during the 1990s and the early 2000s, releasing several CD albums and many singles, but unfortunately fading away and finally disbanding during the first decade of the new millennium…
But we are in luck, as one can listen and enjoy much of their fine music online nowadays… and this is exactly what we are going to do today 🙂
So, our composition for today is called “Tan Especial”, and here it is… and Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Loyal blog followers probably have taken note of a certain interesting fact…
There is a great myriad of bands, groups and orchestras from all over the world making wonderful Cuban music.
The majority are, naturally from Cuba – this music is part of the cultural heritage of the Cuban people.
Others stem from different lands, cities and countries, but there are places that statistically stand out, one of them being Cali, Colombia.
Today we have another such story – Cuba Libre Son Band.
The group was founded in 2014, and since then visited Cuba, played at local venues in La Habana, and were the opening act for the 58th Feria de Cali, performing just before Los Van Van!
Today’s nice composition deals with an age old question – what are the similarities and differences between Pachanga and Charanga?
So, without further ado, here it is!
And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
Good day dear blog readers, listeners, followers ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
Today we shall be enjoying a nice cover of “Pio Mentiroso” by the Timba band La Banda Ire, a band of Cubans and Europeans based in Finland, active in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
So, here it is… and Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

Today we have something a little different in our blog…
A nice Son Montuno composition, made in California with African flavour!
Today’s composition is by Ricardo Lemvo y la Makina Loca, based in California.
Ricardo, an Angolan born in Congo, who at the age of 15 moved to the USA for the continuation of his academic studies, later graduating the California state university.
In 1990, thought not having any education in music or arts, Lemvo formed his band, La Makina Loca, quickly gaining local popularity among the Latino community and other fans of Afro Caribbean music.
International fame came with the release of the band’s first album, “Tata Masamba”, in 1996, and their appearance in the 1998 film “dance with me”.
Lemvo and his crazy machine released seven albums so far, with our composition for today coming from their fourth one, “Ay, Valeria!”, released in 2003.
So, without further ado, here it is!
And Always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
