28.06.19 : Maykel Blanco y Yoruba Andabo – La Cafetera

Good day dear blog followers, readers, listeners, y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana !

Returning from a wonderful event such as the 10th Guaguanco festival is always a bit of a sad occurrence, as you know that at least for now, the fun is over and it will be a while until you get to experience it all over again, 4-5 days of wonder…

But on the other hand, the blog is back on track!
For today I shall be presenting a great mix of Timba and Guanguanco, which were brought together by the wonderful collaboration of Maykel Blanco and Yoruba Andabo in his latest album “Que Tiene Que Te Mueve”.
The song is a remake of a pure Rumba composition by the above mentioned folkloric & popular music ensemble from a few years back, and was often played at the festival, during classes and parties alike.

So, here is the original

And here is the new Timba version

And always remember… ¡sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

21.06.19 : Going to the 10th Guaguanco festival – no blog

Good day dear blog readers, followers, y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana !

This Friday there shall be no blog entry, as I will be having a great time at the 10th Guaguanco Festival at Lloret de Mar, Spain.

But I shall now leave you, dear readers, empty handed!

No!

For this week we can enjoy a wonderful concert by one of the most well know groups playing traditional Cuban music – Sierra Maestra!

The concert took place in 2014 at the island nation of Curacau, and is a great pleasure to listen to…

So, here it is.
And always remember… ¡Sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!

14.06.19 : De Reve a Van Van – Mega Concierto de las Dos Leyendas !

Good day dear blog readers, followers, listeners ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!

Today I have a special treat for us all;
In Decembre 2017, an unprecedented event took place at the music scene of La Habana…
To commemorate two of the greatest people in the history of contemporary Cuban music, their decedents, leaders of Cuba’s top two primera line ensembles, Orquesta Reve & Los Van Van, came together for a one time event at La Capital.

This was the Dos Leyendas mega concert, the time and place when the groups in which the memory and talent of the forefathers Elio and Juan lives on, performing their greatest hits, together.

I believe that such groups need no introduction, and that there is little point in trying to describe an event of such magnitude in writing… one can just listen, observe and delve into this marvel, which was released on DVD a short while ago.

So, without further ado, here it is.
And always remember… ¡sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
*the clip below is the first in a playlist containing most of the concert.

07.06.19 : Septeto Acarey – La Llave del Son

Good day dear blog followers, readers, listeners ¡y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!

Did you know that Septeto Acarey, a Cuban music band from Colombia, have just released a brand new album during the first few days of June?
Well, now you do, and today’s composition is from that new album, called “La Llave del Son“!

For today’s blog entry I choose the song which I consider my favorite from that album (which I can highly recommend, except maybe one song), a Son Montuno composition which is the album’s title track.

So, without further ago, here is the composition!
Listen at will, and always remember… ¡sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!
