{"id":684,"date":"2016-11-18T09:23:02","date_gmt":"2016-11-18T09:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=684"},"modified":"2016-11-18T09:23:02","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T09:23:02","slug":"18-11-16-pupy-y-los-que-son-son-dicen-que-dicen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salsayo.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=684","title":{"rendered":"18.11.16 : Pupy y Los Que Son Son &#8211; Dicen Que Dicen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good day dear readers, listeners, fans and blog followers!<\/p>\n<p>As you definitely know, the blog was on vacation for 2 weeks, while I was traveling beautiful Poland, including finally meeting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Josue.LaEpoca\">Josue Joseph<\/a>\u00a0of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laepocafilm.com\/bio_Josue_Joseph.html\">La Epoca<\/a> in person, seeing my good friends from <a href=\"https:\/\/alcentro.by\/\">Al Centro Cuban dance school in Minsk<\/a>, and of course, attending the amazing <a href=\"http:\/\/salsafestival.pl\/en\/\">12th el Sol Salsa festival<\/a> in Warsaw, with thousands of wonderful dancers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLAMd6YJWRorojybrDhVR4A_NjEocGoaef\">great workshops<\/a>, and 2 live concerts by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9yh4CB7ClT0\">Orquesta Reve<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=K6V2znEa76Q\">Yoruba Andabo<\/a> (who also taught some very interesting workshops about Rumba and Afro Cuban Folklore).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/el_sol_2016_new.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-685\" src=\"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/el_sol_2016_new.png\" alt=\"el_sol_2016_new\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As I already mentioned, I had a great time, and the parties were great, lasting &#8217;till 6 AM most days, with lots of great music and dancing.<\/p>\n<p>One song which caught my eye&#8230; or rather, ear, and that I haven&#8217;t heard being played on any dance floor for years now is the song I present you today here at the blog, from the 2005 album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Cesar-Pedroso-Pupy-Y-Los-Que-Son-Son-Pupy-El-Buenagente\/release\/5043404\">El Buenagente<\/a>, by <a href=\"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=82\">Pupy y Los Que Son Son<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.termidor.de\/s\/images\/product_images\/popup_images\/37_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although some songs from this album are more well known, for example gato por liebre, la figura soy yo, or the band&#8217;s cover of disco azucar, I see no reason for Dicen Que Dicen to be missing from the dance floors;<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a wonderful song coming on the slower, or even romantic, side of things, making it perfect for the 1st and 3rd thirds of the evening.<br \/>\nIt is also very well balanced from the standpoint of rhythm \\ melody, has great energy &amp; groove, solos parts, nice harmonic interaction with the clave, and some subtle Afro Cuban cultural references, with all of this topped by Pepito Gomez&#8217;s great singing!<\/p>\n<p>So for me, the song is a winner by all counts, and one of the most memorable songs from the festival.<br \/>\nDisfruten!<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ziJnHVkWuMc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good day dear readers, listeners, fans and blog followers!
