{"id":287,"date":"2014-04-04T16:15:29","date_gmt":"2014-04-04T16:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=287"},"modified":"2014-04-04T16:15:29","modified_gmt":"2014-04-04T16:15:29","slug":"04-04-14-alexander-batte-y-kabiocile-ache-yemaya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salsayo.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=287","title":{"rendered":"04.04.14 : Alexander Batte y Kabiocile &#8211; Ache Yemaya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good evening my friends!<\/p>\n<p>Today I present you with a very interesting, new Timba band operating in Paris, France &#8211; Alexander Batte y Kabiocile.<\/p>\n<p>The meaning of &#8220;Kabiocile&#8221; in the Yoruba language (language of the Bantu ethnic group, from which many of the black Cubans originate) is &#8220;hail the king!&#8221; or &#8220;hail, your majesty!&#8221;, and is a part of a prayer to the Orisha Chango; It is also sometimes pronounced &#8220;Kawo Kabiosile!&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In the Yoruba religion, Chango is the Orisha \\ Santo \\ Deity of fire, thunder &amp; lightning, war and drums.<br \/>\nHe is often referred to as &#8220;el rey del&#8230;&#8221;, &#8220;the king of&#8230;&#8221; one of the things mentioned above (for example &#8220;el rey de los tambores bata &#8211; king of the bata drums&#8221;) .<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/u.jimdo.com\/www16\/o\/sbd96ef6f5bcb816b\/img\/ife23f1b97caa81e5\/1375926200\/std\/image.png\" width=\"406\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The group plays Timba, mixing &amp; matching traditional and modern Cuban music, with a special emphasis on the African side of the Cuban tradition and culture.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander, founder of the band, says that in the song which I present you tonight, &#8220;Ache Yemaya&#8221;, he thanks the Orisha Yemaya, the divine mother of the universe, for blessing him with the opportunity and gift to create music.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"font-size: 1rem; line-height: 1;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/neoclubpress.com\/images\/M_images\/1-yemaya.jpg\" width=\"563\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Disfruten!<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i41xYvKD3fw\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good evening my friends!
