{"id":1227,"date":"2019-04-05T09:37:54","date_gmt":"2019-04-05T09:37:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=1227"},"modified":"2019-04-12T10:43:39","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T10:43:39","slug":"06-04-19-los-ahijados-corazon-de-acero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salsayo.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/?p=1227","title":{"rendered":"05.04.19: Los Ahijados &#8211; Corazon de Acero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good day dear blog followers, listeners, readers \u00a1y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!<\/p>\n<p>Today we have a classic Son composition performed by a band from the Dominican Republic, Los Ahijados.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/zzz.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1229 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/salsalust.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/zzz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"496\" srcset=\"https:\/\/salsayo.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/zzz.jpg 500w, https:\/\/salsayo.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/zzz-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/salsayo.com\/blogs\/cuban_music_che\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/zzz-300x298.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Los Ahijados is a band formed during the late 1950&#8217;s by brothers Cuco and Martin Valoy from Mano Guayabo, a town near the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, inspired by the Cuban Duo Los Compadres.<br \/>\nAlthough sons of a carpenter, Cuco studied music at El Conservatorio Nacional de Musica de la Republica, learning to sing and play several instruments.<\/p>\n<p>With the embargo on Cuba blocking most music and musicians from going in or out of the island, a gap in the production of Son music remained, with many fans of the traditional Cuban music losing access.<br \/>\nThis gap was filled by Los Ahijados, who enjoyed much success and fame throughout the 1960&#8217;s and 1970&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>As the &#8220;Salsa&#8221; fashion came around the early 1970&#8217;s so did Cuco not miss this shift, leaving the band and forming his own group, &#8220;los virtuosos&#8221;, effectively ending Los Ahijados.<br \/>\nIn the years to come, the band would continue performing locally, but would never reach the success it had during it&#8217;s peak years.<br \/>\nCuco, on the other hand, would go to become one of the most influential, productive and well known figures in the Dominican music industry (as a DJ, producer, radio broadcaster and arranger, besides being a singer and musician playing guitars, bass, piano and various percussive instruments), as well as a &#8220;salsa&#8221; star with compositions such as &#8220;Juliana&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years the band reunited, performing locally and internationally yet again!<\/p>\n<p>The song for us to enjoy today is an original Son tradicional composition called &#8220;Corazon de Acero&#8221;, coming from the 7th album of Los Ahijados, released during the 1960&#8217;s.<br \/>\nAnd always remember&#8230; \u00a1sigue disfrutando la musica Cubana!<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6WmYZlUYfRA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good day dear blog followers, listeners, readers \u00a1y todos los amantes de la musica Cubana!
